This weekend I'll be flying out to CA to attend the second annual Fretboard Summit, put on by the folks at Fretboard Journal. Thinking back on last year's summit, I wanted to share a couple highlights from a very fun, very geeky weekend...
CreativeLive, an online education platform that broadcasts free live classes, partnered with Fretboard Summit to shoot video and curate content from the gathering. This was a video we filmed on a rainy Sunday morning, in a makeshift studio... an Airstream trailer.
On that same soggy morning, as the event was winding down, Bryan Sutton and I wrote this little tune, named after Dana Bourgeois' grandmother, Lelia. The folks at Bourgeois Guitars recorded it for us.
The lineup of performers featured last year was one long list of some my biggest guitar heroes. I had the honor of meeting and playing with Bill Frisell, Joe Henry and Blake Mills for the first time, all in the same day, which was almost too much to bear. Here is the video from Saturday night's encore, featuring, Bryan Sutton, Bill Frisell, Matt Munisteri, Joe Henry, Blake Mills, Scott Nygaard and myself. It was fun.
